As a quasi-man, I have so many feelings pent-up in me. Just like the meniscus of a liquid prevents this from bursting out of a container, just so, I feel that I have these boundaries that remind me that it is not my turn yet. That I still have to wait.
In this fast-paced world, waiting is what the weak do. Waiting is what the poor do. It is considered that those who are powerless and 'resourceless' wait while the rest of us, who do have access to the means, get everything at the snap of our fingers. The latest information, the best gadgets, the tastiest food at our doorsteps (well, maybe not. I consider Pizza Pizza tasty ha!). What has this done to us? We fail to wait. We have forgotten that good things come to those who wait. Going one step deeper, it is in fact harmful and dangerous when we choose not to wait and satiate our whims and fancies whenever we feel like.
The rapes in New Delhi, the abortions all over the world, the multi-billion dollar pornography industry which in turn fuels the sex-trafficking industry. Those are just some examples of the adverse effects of failing to wait.
However, more deeply, I think it unravels something interesting in the human heart. We are pleasure-seeking creatures. It might have a sexual connotation in light of the sexual perversions I did mention above but hey! it doesn't have to be. Our pleasures can take the form of being accepted, loved, peace, serenity, powerful, successful, worshiped, adored, looked up to, significant, purposeful not forgetting sexual pleasure! These are just some of the pleasures that each one of us crave to different degrees. Have they evolved throughout the ages? I think not.
As human beings, we have this innate sense of dignity, or morality, of our self-worth which although can be destroyed, it still is pretty unique. I think it is given by a much higher being. A creator God who bestowed these on mankind and deep down under all these desires, there is this deep longing that cannot be fulfilled by anything people or things can give. You could probably try, and try does everyone but it is as pointless as filling a huge ocean-spaced reservoir with small cups of water. This quote, which is a favorite of mine, by the way, pretty much sums up what I have discovered:

“There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus”
As the Bible says, I believe, that the whole world cries out for Him. Jesus' death on the cross, all call it crucifixion, but he calls it proposal. It was through this that God could reconcile the world to Him so that He could give the ultimate ultimate pleasure mankind can ever have - God, himself!
Oh! the beauty of the riches of Christ! God desires us? Wow!
I am blown by this and this great unlimited treasure I have compels me to share it with the world wide web.
